Educational visitor service

Educational visitors are teachers with specialist experience and knowledge of additional support needs. They support inclusion and equality for children with additional support needs, from birth to 5 years.

The service provides support to young children with significant additional support for learning needs and the team works closely with allied health professionals, parents and carers, early learning and childcare settings and social workers.

This specialist service helps the education authority provide assessment and intervention for children in the early years with significant additional support needs to comply with additional support for learning legislation.

How we can help

The service could support your child by helping with:

  • assessment and planning
  • advice
  • working together
  • parent and carer support
  • child development information
  • advice and strategies
  • stages of play

Consultation service

We offer a virtual consultation service for education staff, allied professionals and parents to let them speak with an educational visitor about a child, or a general education concern.

Book a consultation

After the consultation if you still have worries about how to help your child, ask your health visitor or nursery manager to complete a request for assistance form.
