Apply for a dropped kerb permit

Terms and conditions

The standard width permitted for a driveway access is 5 metres (2 transition and 3 bull-nose kerbs). If your driveway is wider than 5 metres, for example if it's 2 cars wide, a dropped kerb application must be agreed with our road network coordination team. This could mean your application takes longer to assess.

Any gates on the driveway must open into the property, not out onto the public footway or road.

Works carried out within the public road boundary will be adopted by Dumfries and Galloway Council. These works must be carried out to standard as explained in the permission. During the works a boundary line (kerb) should be installed across the private property and public road boundary.

All works within the public road should be carried out by a New Roads and Street Works accredited contractor who can provide evidence of staff SWQR qualification to safely work within the public road.

We will issue a full list of conditions and specifications with the consent.
