Active travel is beneficial for your health and wellbeing, the wider environment and the economy.

  • it can improve your physical and mental health; active travel like cycling and walking can boost your mood and help keep you fitter and healthier; just 30 minutes of walking a day can increase your heart and lung fitness, while reducing risk of chronic and cardiovascular disease
  • it can help save you money as active travel methods are cheaper than other ways of getting around
  • it is good for the environment, reducing emissions, noise, traffic congestion and wear and tear on roads.
  • it supports local economies by making places attractive to live, work and visit
