View an historic copy of a planning or building warrant document, request your own copy of a document.

You can make a request to either:

  • view an historic planning or building document at our office in Dumfries
  • get your own copy of a planning or building document

You can request to make an appointment to view our archive of historic documents.

Please include in your email:

  • your name
  • your email address and contact telephone number
  • if the enquiry relates to a planning application or a building warrant application
  • the reference number of the application/s you want to view
  • the full site address

Appointments will be at:

Dumfries, DG1 2HS

An appointment to view the requested plans will be arranged within 3 days of the request, unless otherwise advised.

Request a copy of a planning or building document

You can request a copy of:

  • a decision notice
  • a plan on an application
  • an approved building warrant

Please include in your email:

  • your name
  • your email address and contact telephone number
  • if the enquiry relates to a planning application or a building warrant application
  • the reference number of the application/s you want a copy of – if you do not know the reference number there is an additional fee
  • the full site address

Copies of plans may not be available for copyright reasons. We can only provide A4 sized copies.

What happens next

We will:

  • identify the file and its availability
  • process your request within 20 working days

When we receive payment the copy documents will be emailed or posted to you. 

Requests which do not include a reference number will result in a delay in providing the requested documents.
