Building regulations services and standards
The building services we provide and our customer standards and performance.
Building regulations are in place to make sure that buildings are safe. We are responsible for checking that buildings in the region meet Scottish standards.
What we do
We administer and enforce building regulations by:
- providing advice on building regulations
- reviewing plans for proposed building work and issuing permission to start
- inspecting sites during building work
- checking completed work meets standards
- investigating reports of dangerous buildings and taking action to safeguard people
The building regulations system in Scotland is established by the Building (Scotland) Act 2003.
Customer charter
We are committed to providing a high standard of service to customers. Our customer charter sets out the core visions and values of the service. It provides details of:
- the services we offer
- the standards we should meet
- our measurable performance targets
Annual performance report
The Scottish Government requires us to publish an annual performance report. The report includes the previous year's performance data and targets.
Monthly performance report
We update the building standards performance figures every month.
