Children normally transfer to their catchment area secondary school between age 11 and 12.
Our schools cover areas known as catchment areas. You can apply to any school but children living in the catchment area get priority when places are allocated.
Your child's school should explain how to apply when the time comes to start the transfer process. Parents must go to their child's primary school to apply for a secondary school place for their child.
Find your catchment area school
Take a completed application form and the identification documents listed at the bottom of the form with you.
If you want to apply for a place at at a non-catchment school you must apply at your child's primary school. If you apply to a non-catchment school but do not get a place, you may not get a place at your catchment school.
Take a completed application form and the identification documents listed at the bottom of the form with you.
If you change your address and wish to move your child to another school, you should contact the new school. The school will help you apply for the change, if a place is available.
We'll send you a letter to let you know if we cannot give your child a place at the school you applied for. This letter will explain how you can appeal our decision. You can appeal within 28 days of getting the letter.
